ABOUT THE BREED
The Legend of the Sacred Cat of Burma
During the latter part of the 1800s on the sides of Mount Lugh in Burma there was a temple built where the great Lama holy of holies, Kittah Mun-Ha lived and dedicated his life in prayer to the holy service of Tsun Kyan-Kyse, the Goddess with the sapphire eyes who presided over the transmigration of souls. Always close to him was Sinh, an all-white cat whose eyes were yellow, from the golden body of the Goddess with the sapphire eyes. Sinh’s nose, ears, lower legs and tail were dark like the colour of the earth.
Late one night a murdering tribe entered the temple, killing the great Lama, but as he entered death his cat was at his side. This was when the miracle occurred. In a bound, Sinh leapt on to the golden throne and placed his paws on his slain master. As he sat stiffened before the statue of the Goddess, the white hair of his spine turned to golden yellow as the colour of the body of the Goddess and his yellow eyes turned large and sapphire blue as were those of the Goddess. His four paws which were touching his master turned a dazzling white.
The temple was saved, however Sinh, had not left the throne and on the seventh day, without having made a move, he died, carrying the soul of Mun-Ha to Kyan Kyse. All the cats in the temple were dressed in gold with white gloves and sapphire blue eyes.
